With the calendar month flipping over to August and the sun starting to set a little earlier and rise a little later, people are looking to get as much fun in the sun this summer as possible. It’s been a full summer of fun for those out at Oungre Memorial Regional Park (OMRP).

Last weekend, they held their 4th annual BBQ cook off and they’re looking to keep the action going into this weekend with a brand-new poker derby on Saturday, August 2nd. Erica Pederson, chairman of the OMRP, explains what's happening with this new event.

“We are introducing a new event called the Golf Cart Poker Derby. Participants will visit 7 different stations around the park, each featuring fun games and the chance to build the best poker hands for another cash prize.”

Prizes will be given out for the best station with drinks and snacks available at them. How the poker derby works is people will go around the park, either by golf cart or really any mode of transportation, to all 7 stations and pick a card, then from there they try to create the best poker hand and whoever is the best will receive a payout.
