A Winnipeg golf course is celebrating a huge milestone.
An anniversary to celebrate The Windsor Park Golf Course took place on Wednesday morning, marking 100 years since it first opened.
"Windsor Park Golf Course shows what’s possible when we invest with future generations in mind,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham in a news release. "A century later, it remains a popular destination for local golfers and skiers, and a reminder to keep building a city that stands the test of time."
To mark the special occasion, golfers can celebrate with a special, limited-time anniversary rate. The course originally opened in 1925. From July 30 until August 4, golfers can play for $19.25 per round.
“Winnipeggers from all walks of life have enjoyed golfing at Windsor Park Golf Course over the last 100 years,” said Brian Mayes, Councillor for St. Vital in a news release. “It’s a special place for St. Vital, and for golfers of all levels and ages – myself included.”
“This course has enriched the lives of generations of Winnipeg residents – not only for golf, but also for its scenic cross-country skiing trails,” said Matt Allard, Councillor for St. Boniface in a news release. “Windsor Park Golf Course has been a cherished part of Winnipeg’s landscape for a century.”
“The course has offered generations of residents a place to connect with nature and community,” said Hazel Borys, Director of Planning, Property & Development in a news release. “We are proud to offer an inclusive, welcoming space for all Winnipeggers.”
