Media from across Manitoba gathered today at The Leaf, for a preview of what to expect at Folklorama this year.

Folklorama is an annual celebration of Winnipeg's diversity and multiculturalism. The celebration of cultures is happening over two weeks in August.

"I like to describe Folklorama as a world tour at home. Folklorama is a multicultural festival that happens every year in Winnipeg," said Bisman Randhawa, a Youth Ambassador General for Folklorama.

Randhawa continued, "This year, we are honoured to have 43 pavilions celebrating with us. It means there are going to be 43 different communities, cultures, and countries celebrating across Winnipeg."

Folklorama is an opportunity for everyone to experience new and diverse cultures within their community.

"Folks like to come to Folklorama to immerse themselves in a different culture. The more you explore, the more countries and pavilions you will get to see," said Randhawa

Mayor Scott Gillingham was excited to share the anticipation of the annual festival.

"It is such a fun time every summer for Winnipeggers and Manitobans to enjoy Folklorama. You can really visit the world without leaving Winnipeg," said Gillingham.

He continued, "Over two weeks, we have 43 different pavilions, and it's a picture of the diversity of our city. It's a wonderful time for people to get a sense of what Winnipeg is all about."

The 54th annual Folklorama is happening this year from August 3 to 16 and tickets can be found here!
