An Okotoks school will receive some funding to help add more classrooms.
On Wednesday (July 30), the Alberta government announced a $50-million investment to add 62 pre-made classrooms to schools in Alberta this autumn, on top of the $50 million investment made earlier in the year that saw an additional 47 new modular classrooms.
In total, the provincial government is investing in 109 modular classrooms, adding space for 2,725 students and relocating 575 others.
On top of that funding, the provincial government is providing $610,000 for pre-planning 13 potential future school projects.
Some examples of pre-planning include project scoping and community outreach.
This funding is part the Alberta's Schools Now program, which has an $8.6 billion investment to build and update over 100 schools across the province and add more classroom spaces.
Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools in Okotoks is receiving one new modular classroom and some of that pre-planning funding.
