Together with the Weyburn community today, we held another successful Great Plains Taste of Summer Charity Barbecue, raising $854.25 for the Weyburn branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Program Director Tasha Collins said the funds will go toward their general operating fund.
"I thought it was awesome. There were so many people, so many community members. I also like to see the partnerships between the different businesses in town getting together to support our charity, but not just our charity. You guys are doing this all summer, and I just think it's amazing how there's this collaboration happening to support the local charities."
She said they don't have a specific designation for the funds, so it will be used for general operations.
"All donations stay within our branch and go towards the programs and services or mental health initiatives within our community. We're really looking forward to bringing new programs to services, and hopefully we'll put the money towards those that we serve and in the community as a whole."
Sponsor Richardson Pioneer also raffled off a barbecue during the event. See Janice Bakken's winning name drawn in the video below.
Our next Great Plains Taste of Summer Charity Barbecue will be held on August 14th in support of the Weyburn Humane Society.
