Moosomin – Living Skies Come Alive

Moosomin and District Regional Park gets lit Friday–Sunday for the annual Living Skies Come Alive fireworks competition between Saskatchewan and Alberta. Expect epic lakeside fireworks synced to live music, food vendors, DJ sets, family zones, and a relaxed beer garden vibe. It’s one of the biggest spectacles of the summer—grab your tickets early. Kisbey – Siyó Nidé Nakóda Oyade Wacibi Pow Wow

From August 1–3, head to Kisbey for this vibrant Treaty 4 Territory pow wow. Grand entries are Friday at 7:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Enjoy traditional dancing, singing competitions (with thousands in prizes), arts, crafts, and Indigenous cuisine hosted by the Mata Pejuta and Red Iron drum groups. Midale – Pioneer Echoes Weekend + Dr. Mainprize Documentary

Midale brings it all Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 3:

  • Threshing show (tracking the 59th annual), heritage village open daily

  • Harvest run barrel racing at 9 am and church service at 11 am

  • BBQ fundraiser on Main Street at 11 am to support the new community pool

  • Midale Classy Car Show & Shine on Main Street at noon Sunday

  • Poolside and community entertainment, team roping, tractor parade, blacksmith demos, Truco Trick Riders, and rodeo events all weekend

  • Brand-new: screenings of Mainprize – The Documentary, about Dr. William G. Mainprize who served Midale for decades. Showtimes at Midale Central School: invitation-only premiere at 10:00 am on Aug 2, plus public screenings at 12:30 pm on Aug 2, and 12:30 pm & 5:00 pm on Aug 3. Documentary showings have shifted the daily parade to 2:30 pm to accommodate. Well worth it for local history buffs and community pride. Check it out here.

Carlyle – Cannington Fair at Cannington Manor Provincial Historic Park

On Sunday, August 3, from about 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Cannington Manor throws open its gates for the annual Cannington Fair. Admission is free with valid park entry. Immerse yourself in pioneer life with wagon rides, Victorian tea, rope-making, cricket demos, live music, children’s games, homemade ice cream, and historical displays among restored 1880s heritage buildings. Wawota – Heritage Day

Wawota celebrates its 45th Heritage Day on Saturday, August 2:

  • Starts with pancakes at the town hall, followed by a parade at 10:30 am and opening ceremony at 12:30 pm

  • Admission gets you: Little Buckers Rodeo, gymkhana events, petting zoo, Zorb balls, mini-golf, archery, beach volleyball, slip‑n‑slide, and more family fun

  • Live entertainment includes magicians, multiple bands, cabaret acts—capped by The Country Band at 8 pm and fireworks at dusk by the Lion’s Club

  • Gate admission is around $25 for adults, with discounted youth and family passes available. Check it out here.

Estevan (Woodlawn Regional Park) – Dave Price Memorial Horse Race

On Sunday afternoon at TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club, watch the thrilling 10th Annual Dave Price Memorial Horse Race, a sudden-death format that usually wraps into the evening. Hundreds gather to cheer and spectate. Past champions like Nolan Rohatyn have made history here. Check it out here.
