From pancake breakfasts to fireworks, motocross stunts to a five-decade Aces alumni ball game, the weekend was bursting with hometown pride, laughter, and connection. For many, it wasn’t just a reunion — it was a powerful reminder of what makes Elrose home.

Macklin’s Cole Reschny has had a whirlwind few months—from lighting up the WHL with the Victoria Royals, to winning gold with Team Canada, and being drafted 18th overall by the Calgary Flames. Now, the top prospect is set to join the University of North Dakota, choosing NCAA development over another junior season. With NHL dreams in sight, Reschny is focused on growing his game—and proudly representing his small-town Saskatchewan roots along the way.
Furry friends bring joy to Kerrobert Pioneer Haven’s pet parade
Residents at Pioneer Haven in Kerrobert lit up with joy this past weekend during the facility’s second annual pet parade. Organized by site manager Tracy Olfert, the event brought cats, dogs—even a horse—for an afternoon of outdoor visits and furry affection. With animals not allowed inside the building due to allergies, the summer tradition gives residents a rare chance to reconnect with the pets they once loved. After a rainout last year, this year’s sunny event was extra special, with treats on hand and plans already underway for next July’s parade.

Independent candidate Sarah Spanier is speaking out about escalating threats and harassment as tensions rise in Alberta’s crowded Battle River–Crowfoot by-election.
