A teenager is dead after a crash near Drumheller.

The crash was on Thursday (July 31) at around 12:46 p.m. on Highway 27 east of the Morrin Bridge. When officers arrived, they discovered a lone man who was dead on the scene.

"The incident resulted in the shutdown of the highway for several hours while police investigated," wrote RCMP in a news release.

Police identified the body as that of a 17-year-old boy from Saskatchewan. Officers added that there were no other people or vehicles involved in the crash.

"The officers of the Drumheller RCMP send their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," added RCMP.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact Drumheller RCMP at 403-823-7590.
