A local charity was recently presented with a cheque from Tim Hortons.
Baby It’s Cold Outside (BCO) was this year’s beneficiary of the Smile Cookie campaign in Okotoks, which ran from April 28 to May 4.
Over the course of the week, 8,238 cookies were sold, raising $16,725 for the organization.
BCO is dedicated to ensuring Foothills residents have access to basic necessities and mental health support.
The charity’s president, Pamela Morgan, said community support has allowed BCO to grow significantly and, in turn, help more people.
"BCO is taking a bit of a larger role in the community when it comes to some of those traumatic situations for families and unfortunate circumstances that come people’s way," said Morgan. "We’re getting enough traction now within the community that we’re becoming more of a go-to for local agencies. I have a lot of gratitude for the community, because if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have the bandwidth and voice that we have."
The organization has also received support from two previous Smile Cookie campaigns: last year’s event and the 2024 Holiday Smile Cookie campaign.
"They’re an amazing partner. We’re so grateful to have them," said Morgan. "And they’re an amazing partner in the Okotoks community as a whole."
