Last week, Discover Moose Jaw had a poll asking you what the City of Moose Jaw should do to acquire land for a new solid waste facility.

The City of Moose Jaw is pursuing three options to see which one will stick:

  • The annexation of one of two pieces of land in the RM of Moose Jaw
  • Seek an exemption for the Moose Jaw Airport Zoning Regulations from the federal government with respect to restricted airspace around 15 Wing to put the facility near the Wastewater Treatment Plant and lagoons.

Moose Jaw's current landfill is expected to be at capacity by between 2028 and 2030.

We received 532 responses to our poll, and 44.36 per cent, or 236 votes, were for the annexation of land.

There were 209 votes, or 39.29 per cent of voters who were in favour of seeking and exemption and 16.35 per cent, or 87 votes, said “none of the above.”

Discover Moose Jaw polls are not scientific, so there is a margin of error.
