There was no provincial glory for a couple of local teams in this past weekend's provincial runs, but there was a strong season ending showing for one. For the other, more challenges await with their league finals this coming weekend.

In provincial baseball action this past weekend, a trio of rock-solid wins for the East Central 15U AAA Dodgers set them in position for a Sunday showdown with the Yorkton Cardinals at the Tier 2 Championship tournament in Regina.

The Dodgers dispatched the Swift Current 57s 13-4 in their Friday opener, followed by a 6-5 victory later that day against the Regina Wolfpack. Saturday the Dodgers handled the South East Twins with a 13-1 trouncing to set them up on Sunday against the Cardinals, but the Dodgers pulled up just short in a 6-2 loss. Kyler Fischer drove in a run while Sawyer Pollon and Kolton Wilkie also posted hits.

Congrats to the Dodgers for a great showing at their championships.

Meanwhile, the Marysburg Royals weren't able to top the field at this past weekend's Provincial Senior Tournament, but they’re wrapping up their league season in style by hosting the Saskatoon Senior Baseball League Finals at Marysburg this weekend.

The Royals lead off at 9 am on Saturday against the hard-hitting Outlaws. They're back on the field at 5 pm for a go round with the Hoppers.

Sunday brings a 12:30 pm bout with the River Pirates leading into the championship final later on Sunday. Catch the August swan song for senior baseball this weekend out at Marysburg.
