Last week, MP Chris Warkentin had the honour of bestowing the King Charles III Coronation Medal on some local men.
Doug Edey received the medal on August 1 for his years of volunteerism and dedication to Grande Prairie.
MP Chris Warkentin commented, "Dougie loves our community! Everyone who has ever met him has been impacted by his contagious smile and joyful spirit. He’s a man who has truly made our community a better place to live. Thank you for your service and your smiles, Dougie!".
Another recipient of the King Charles III Coronation Medal was Captain Peter Kim of the Grande Prairie Salvation Army. Captain Kim, a previous recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Medal, has an extensive background of community and humanitarian service in Canada and around the world. He's currently the Executive Director and Community Services Officer with the Grande Prairie Salvation Army. MP Chris Warkentin presented Captain Kim with the Coronation Medal during the August 3 service at the Grande Prairie Salvation Army Community Church.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal is given to those who have made a significant contribution to the country, a province, territory, region or community.
