The festivities of the Strathmore Stampede long weekend have officially come to an end.

During the weekend, the crowning of the new Miss Strathmore Stampede took place with Aliera Chernoff taking the title.

Chernoff explained how she felt about winning the title.

"It feels amazing. It's like living my dream now. I've always wanted to be Miss Strathmore Stampede."

Chernoff campaigned for the title against Andrea Hunter.

"We have a very large competition, so it's jam-packed into three days," added Chernoff. "We have a written exam, we've got our horsemanship, public speaking, interviews, and then we're judged on overall personality and appearance. So, the weekend was a lot, but it's super fun. You learn a lot about yourself."

Chernoff grew up in Strathmore and would like to help get other women involved in the title who aren't as involved in the country western world.

"I'd like to make an impact on people who maybe aren't already in rodeo. Lots of people think you need to be born into it to kind of be involved. That's not the case. I didn't come from a rodeo family."

Chernoff knew she wanted to get involved in the rodeo world after getting bucked off a horse at her first gymkhana.

She is excited to get involved in the community and meet new people.
