Nikki Shae's innovative Facebook post in What's up Winkler, a popular community page, aims to help connect the community through event information and personal inquiries, bringing some humour and genuine curiosity when she requested someone to offer face-painting services for her kitten's gender reveal party.

"It was hilarious. Every time someone would post something else then I would just start giggling, and I would be with my clients, doing nails, and I would show them. I'm like, look at this new one. I actually love that Facebook page because of that."

Shae said she wanted to confirm with skeptics who thought she was a bot; she is indeed a real person looking for a face painter for her kitten's gender reveal party on August 30th. Which happens to be her birthday.

Midwhiskery

The story begins when she was housesitting for her friend Linda. While she was there, Linda's cat, Big Red, gave birth to a litter of kittens, which Shae joked made her the midwife.

"There's going to be a Simba moment..." - Nikki Shae.

Shae and her husband have decided to adopt one of the kittens, but they don't know how to determine the gender of kittens. So, with the help of someone who does, Shae shared how the gender will be revealed.

"Because we live in town, I don't want all of my neighbours' houses to be coloured. So, probably not the smoke bombs, but I'm thinking like a glitter balloon where you just pop it and it sprinkles everywhere. And then, there's going to be a Simba moment, where I hold the kitten in front of everyone, and everyone will go crazy."

"It's going to be epic," she stated. "My family is not surprised I'm doing this. This is normal. This is one of the tame things I've done."

Male or female?

When asked her gender preference, Shae gave her thoughts.

"It doesn't really matter to me. I think my husband wants a boy because our dog is a boy. So then, it will be three boys and one girl. So, then I might need another kitten that's a girl. Yeah, so maybe, hopefully a girl." She quickly added, "As long as it's healthy and happy, it will be safe."

Face Painter Qualifications

The party will consist of blue and pink potluck food, party games, drinks, and hopefully, face painting. As of the time of this interview, despite the good number of comments on the social media post, she still hadn't found someone to paint faces. Shae noted the successful candidate will love cats and will love fun.
