A quiet Thursday afternoon turned chaotic at GME Thrift Emporium in Portage la Prairie when a vehicle accidentally crashed through the store’s south wall.

A store manager said the incident happened around 2 p.m. on August 7 at the shop’s location on 2380 Sissons Drive, in the city’s west end.

No one was in the area of the store at the time, and there were no injuries to either the driver or anyone inside.

While the car sustained only minor damage, the store was hit hard. The crash cracked a window, pushed in part of the wall, toppled shelving, and destroyed several glass items. Merchandise was scattered across the floor.
