Chestermere's annual Amazing Duck Race kicks off later this month.

The race takes place at John Peake Park on Aug. 16 and involves residents sponsoring rubber ducks to race through Chestermere Lake. Those who sponsor the fastest ducks will win a prize.

"Other fun additions to the Duck Race this year are the youth vendors market and the service of food trucks," wrote Synergy Connects on its website. "Stick around, browse and shop some of our local youth’s displays."

The ducks cost $10 to sponsor and are available at community events, local stores, or online.

"This fundraiser is not only a fun-filled event but also helps sustain many of the programs Synergy offers throughout the year, including our no-cost youth programs and community-based initiatives," added Synergy Connects.

For those who didn't sponsor a duck, they can still attend the event for free to cheer on the race.
