Carrick Days is a weekend-long celebration that brings together members of the community for what feels like one large family reunion.

Volunteer Darlene Johansson says that there are only 7 full-time residents of Carrick. The rest of the community are cottage owners.

Johansson was born and raised in Carrick and returns to this event every year because of the community and the people.

“It's just nice to get reacquainted with people who come from far and wide, you know, from Calgary, from other parts of Canada, just to attend this event.”

She compares the event to a family reunion and mentions that this is not possible without volunteers from the community.

“I think every year is a homecoming because you always get people who come here only for this event. They are so happy to see, because there are certain families who were born and raised here, and everybody from that family comes, so you get to see everybody that you don't normally see.”

With activities such as a parade, fireworks, and a horseshoe tournament, Carrick Days brought a ton to look forward to.

Johansson notes that organizer Jimmy Danilchuk has put Carrick on the map by spearheading this event for 31 years.
