Siksika Nation is presenting its voices through a grassroots community event.
Red Road Reclamation, a nonprofit grassroots initiative, is hosting Unmute the Nation at Admin Park on Tuesday (Aug. 19) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will feature information booths, a barbecue, and door prizes throughout the day.
Members of the Siksika Nation community are encouraged to participate in an open mic, where they can speak their minds.
"The event isn't just about showing up—it's about being heard," wrote Dustin Dick, founder of the nonprofit and organizer of the event, on a Facebook post. "Unmute the Nation is a community gathering where we take recovery, healing, and our voices back to the land."
The gathering is free and open to all ages.
"Sometimes healing begins with simply being heard."
Earlier this summer, Red Road Reclamation hosted One Goal, Many Journeys – A Relay for Recovery, a relay run symbolizing recovery from addiction and emphasizing the importance of a unified community.
