The Town of Strathmore is hosting an open house to give residents the chance to discuss the proposed annexation of land west of town.

As of the council meeting on July 23, the town continues to advance its annexation of three-quarter sections of land, with the process done in collaboration with Wheatland County and supported by CORVUS and ISL Engineering.

"Annexation is when a municipality expands beyond its boundaries to include nearby land," wrote the town on social media. "This helps support future growth and ensures services and infrastructure can meet the needs of the community."

The open house takes place on Thursday (Aug. 14) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Strathmore Municipal Building.

According to the town, the annexation could create new job opportunities, offer diverse housing options, attract new investments, and support sustainable, long-term growth.

Those with questions and concerns about the annexation can also reach out to project manager Vicki Dodge at 403-814-0702 or through email at vicki.dodge@strathmore.ca.
