The ice is back in place at the Didsbury Memorial Complex.

Back in December of 2024, the ice was removed from both the arena and curling rink, following the discovery of an ammonia leak in the condenser.

At the end of June, a new adiabatic condenser was put in place, which allowed the town to get the rink ready for the skating season.

Rhonda Hunter, mayor of Didsbury, explained that she is happy this adventure is now over.

"It was an adventure you only want to experience once, but it is exciting to see the ice in place."

Currently, a hockey camp is taking place at the rink, so the ice is already in use.

"We're looking forward to a fantastic, fun-filled winter at the arena."

She heard lots of disappointment when the arena had to be closed down in the middle of winter last year.

"It shows how much the arena means to our communities. Having everybody back on home ice is where we want them to be."

She concluded by thanking everybody once again for their patience and wished everybody a fun winter ahead.
