Moose Jaw’s Austin Harvey is holding his second annual school supply fundraiser to help families in our community in need.
He first launched the fundraiser last year and he was able to help 19 families and 42 children with school supplies.
“The first year went better than I thought. (The) fundraiser went for 15 days and I got a lot of supplies that came in and was able to give it out to a lot of families,” Harvey said.
As a fourth year education student at the University of Regina, Harvey has been holding the fundraiser to give back and help local families with the cost to sent kids to school and alleviate some of the burden and stress on families.
“It’s been great. I’m hoping to do this every year and hopefully get it bigger and more involved I guess is the goal,” he said.
Harvey is collecting any new or gently used school supplies as well as cash donations.
Below is a list of supplies that are needed:
“The big ticket items that are always in demand is markers, pencil crayons, wax crayons and backpacks,” added Harvey.
Harvey will be handing out the supplies personally. Anyone who is struggling, or you would like to nominate a family, can reach out to Harvey directly and he will set up with what you need.
Those interested in donating can reach out of Harvey via Facebook, you can email harvey.austin2004@gmail.com or you can call or text 306-631-4419. He also accepts e-transfer donations to that email address.
