The Coal Creek Festival is set to return Aug. 23 for its second year, bringing a full day of live performances, family activities and local food vendors to Roche Percee Campground.
“It is such a beautiful venue down in the valley there,” said event organizer Robert Godfrey on the SUN 102 morning show.

The festival will feature performances by Saskatchewan favourites including JJ Voss, Jeffery Straker, Karissa Hoffart, Lisa Moen, and headliners The Steadies.
“They're such a fun band and really making some moves in the music scene,” Godfrey said. “They haven't had the chance to perform in this area before, so I think that's really cool to bring kind of an act that most people probably haven't been able to see.”
Beyond entertainment, the event serves as a fundraiser led by the Southeast Saskatchewan Economic Partnership (SSEP), with proceeds supporting local initiatives.
“The goal of this was kind of twofold,” Godfrey said. “The first one was to create an economic and tourism opportunity for Southeast Saskatchewan … and the other side of it is giving back to the community.”
Last year’s festival profits were distributed to community organizations. This year, the focus is on supporting upgrades at Roche Percee Campground.
“They have so many amazing upgrades that they are working on down there and really creating a fantastic first-class camping place that has the feel of the valley,” Godfrey said.
Tickets are available online at coalcreekfest.ca and in person at Henders Drugs in Estevan, as well as municipal offices in Estevan, Bienfait and Coalfields. Adult tickets are $50, youth tickets (ages 13–18) are $25, and children 12 and under are free.
If you're coming out, we want to encourage you to bring your family and just have a really great time in Southeast Saskatchewan,” Godfrey said.
Munro & Patrick: Big Sound, Bold Covers
Heidi Munro and Scott Patrick bring their signature blend of soul, rock, and brass to the Coal Creek Festival stage. Their latest single Let It Slide was written under pressure before a BC tour and features a powerful horn section and festival-ready energy. “We wanted it to be a really big sound,” Munro said. The duo also shared their emotional Joni Mitchell cover, Give Me Your Rain, which originated from a workshop stage at the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival.

Teagan Littlechief: Shine On and Prairie Soul
Teagan Littlechief returns to southeast Saskatchewan with a full five-piece band, including members of Shifty Morgan — the same group that helped launch her performance career over two decades ago. Her latest single, Shine On, written by Sean Hogan, delivers a message of resilience and self-worth. “Even if you have to stand alone for a little while, just know that you're not going to be standing alone for a long time,” she said. Teagan is also looking forward to finally visiting the Roche Percée Rocks with her son during the festival weekend.

Karissa Hoffart: From Barn to Stage
Weyburn-based artist Karissa Hoffart blends her life as a nurse, farmer, and musician into heartfelt country songs. Her latest release, What Happens in the Barn, was originally written by Justin LaBrash and Doug Sylvester and adapted to a female perspective. “We actually used all local musicians to get that song recorded,” Hoffart said. She’s excited to perform at Roche Percée Campground and finally explore the iconic Roche Percée Rocks.
