A southern Manitoba family is praying for a miracle after their daughter was born with significant heart issues.

Mike, Courtney and their three boys were excited to welcome a girl into the family. However, their world was quickly turned upside down when they learned she would be born with serious heart complications and need surgery.

Daisy was born on February 25, 2025 and spent her first five weeks in the NICU in Winnipeg before joining her family at home in Niverville.

"She spent four months growing stronger and melting everyone's hearts with her smiles," said organizers of a fundraiser for the family.

Her heart condition made it necessary for her to have open-heart surgery in Edmonton at just five months old.

"On July 28, Daisy underwent a complicated heart surgery at Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton," said Linnea Devries. "However, upon further examination of Daisy's heart, they concluded that it was more complicated than they expected.

Daisy will now need to undergo more procedures and eventually need a heart transplant.

"She needs a miracle," said organizers of a fundraiser for the family.

To help the family navigate this difficult and trying time, friends and family have started a couple of fundraisers, including making special bracelets.

"We hope that the bracelet can be a constant reminder to pray for Daisy and her family," said Rhea Peters. "We are asking for minimum donations of $10 per bracelet, but as much as you can give will be a blessing."

They have also set up an online fundraiser on GiveSendGo, hoping to raise $10,000.

Courtney and her husband Mike say they are blown away by all the support they've been receiving for Daisy.

"I'm getting messages from people telling me they are seeing Daisy bracelets on strangers!" said Courtney. "God is working a miracle in this little girl. "

She says Daisy has had a few good days in a row now. They say her heart function is not 100 percent, but that doesn't mean it can't heal.

"Please continue to pray that her heart heals, and that it can sustain her body in the meantime."

Donations can be given directly to the family through their e-transfer email at courtneyjbouwman@gmail.com or through the GiveSendGo link.
