Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a heat warning for Moose Jaw and several surrounding communities.

Extremely hot weather is expected across southern Saskatchewan starting Tuesday and continuing into Thursday.

The maximum temperature Tuesday is forecast to reach between 32 and 34 C, with a humidex of 38 to 40. Overnight lows will drop to around 16 C.

On Wednesday, Environment Canada says daytime highs will once again reach 32 to 34 C with a humidex of 38 to 40. Conditions are expected to cool off Wednesday night into Thursday.

Residents are reminded to take precautions to protect themselves and others, as extreme heat can affect everyone’s health.

Signs of heat exhaustion include headaches, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should stop activity and drink water.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperatures or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
