Two people are recovering following a serious collision over the weekend.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Oakbank RCMP were called to a serious collision on Provincial Road 207, near Highway 1, at Deacon’s corner.
At the scene, officers located a 4-door sedan on the southbound shoulder, facing south, with extensive front-end damage. A semi truck, with no trailer attached, was parked ahead and had a warped frame.
RCMP say a semi truck was turning south on Provincial Road 207 from Birkett Way when it was hit from behind by the 4-door sedan.
The driver of the semi truck, a 31-year-old male from Calgary, was not injured. The driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old male from the RM of St Clements, was transported to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.
The 4-door sedan was unregistered and had no driving lights on. Speed and alcohol appear to be a factor in this collision.
Oakbank RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
