The Winnipeg Police Service is searching for a suspect and asking for the public's assistance after a woman was assaulted near Beliveau Road last week.

Shortly before midnight, at 11:45 p.m. on August 15, a woman was walking between a parking lot in the 1900 block of Abinoji Mikanah and the rear of the 200 block of Beliveau Road.

A random stranger appeared and grabbed the woman in an unwanted sexual manner. 

The woman broke free and ran to safety. 

The suspect was last seen running east toward the Home Depot parking lot.

The suspect is described as:

  • A man in his 20s- 30s
  • Described as Indigenous in appearance, with dark hair and facial hair
  • Heavier build and wearing a dark hoodie
