A rural municipality in the southwest could be experiencing increased water flow.

The RM of Miry Creek recently posted on their Facebook page about the continuation of a program from the Water Security Agency, and how it might affect them, including the community of Lancer.

The agency is continuing with the Agricultural Water Management Fund—a program for producers to help advance the practice of responsibility when managing agricultural water reserves

In a written statement from the Water Security Agency, $750,000 will be provided to Saskatchewan farmers to “advance responsible agricultural water management projects and addressing barriers producers may experience when working towards an approved drainage project.”

Funds from this program are to be used for services when planning, constructing, or managing agricultural drainage systems.

While the program continues, residents of the RM are encouraged to monitor for leaks. Signs of a leak include calcium buildups, noticeable water sounds—especially running toilets—and mold growth. If you suspect a leak, turn off all possible sources and check your water meter.
