More details have been released about Tuesday's incident on George Gordon First Nation
Following up on a report of an injured female, an investigation with Punnichy RCMP determined an altercation occurred between a male and female, The male was armed with a firearm
During the altercation, the firearm was discharged. The Male left the scene on foot as the female was transported to hospital with a serious gunshot injury.
Shortly afterwards, Saskatchewan RCMP located the male in a nearby treed area. The Male attempted to flee from police on foot however officers were able to bring him safely into custody.
With the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services, a firearm and ammunition were located and seized.
24-year-old Xavier Worm from Regina has been charged with
- one count, attempted murder, Section 239(1)(a.1), Criminal Code;
- one count, discharge a firearm with intent, Section 244, Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a prohibited firearm without authorization or license, Section 95, Criminal Code; and
- one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code.
He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Wednesday.

Yesterday (August 19) at approximately 8:30 am, Punnichy RCMP received a report of an injured female near a residence on George Gordon First Nation
Officers along with EMS responded immediately.
The female was transported by STARS with injuries described as serious in nature
Following an investigation, officers located and arrested a male in a nearby treed area.
Saskatchewan RCMP continues to investigate.
