Local community-based organization, Journey to Hope made a major announcement via their Facebook page this morning.

The announcement goes as follows:

After much soulful consideration, it has been determined by the Journey to Hope Moose Jaw Board that Journey to Hope, Moose Jaw has reached the fullness of time and will dissolve as of November 1, 2025.

We began in 2008, at the request of two members of the Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group. Since that time, we have poured ourselves into raising mental health and wellness awareness and sponsoring training for suicide awareness and prevention. We are so grateful that in that time, our community has risen to the call for more mental health and wellness resources, and we have celebrated much growth in that regard.

On September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day, Journey to Hope Moose Jaw will host a walk and “Pass the Torch”Ceremony in Crescent Park to honour this transition. Everyone is invited to join us for this evening.

On September 25th we will host a MENtal Health and Wellness event at Temple Gardens Event Centre as our final event.

This night will feature a roast beef supper followed by program with “Leroy” of Leroy and Leroy as our MC and Mark O’Leary, Moose Jaw Warriors Head Coach as Guest Speaker. We will then honour some individuals and groups who are Mental Health and Wellness Champions in our community. We want to fill this Conference space full with HOPE and GRATITUDE.

The funds that have been focussed on Mental Health and Wellness awareness since 2008 will continue to work to that end through CMHA Moose Jaw who will manage the funds in a dedicated account as the JOURNEY TO HOPE LEGACY FUND and will continue to be used to sponsor suicide awareness and prevention training. ( Watch for upcoming training opportunities). Continued donations are welcomed and will be tax receipted.

We are eternally grateful to all who have supported the Journey to Hope mission:

To raise vital funds in support of suicide awareness and prevention, with the purpose being to promote:

HOPE to those who feel hopeless by sharing resiliency information and counselling resources.

HEALING to the bereaved by offering grief information and support resources.

HONOURING the memory of those who have died by suicide by reaching out to the hopeless and hurting

Forever grateful and forever hopeful.

The Journey to Hope Moose Jaw Board
