On August 16th, Morden Police responded to an accident in the city that left a vehicle on its roof.
“[It] happened at the intersection of 12th Street and Thornhill Street,” said Inspector Sean Aune of the service.
“It appears from witness accounts that one of the vehicles proceeded in an unsafe manner right across Thornhill Street, and they collided, and it actually caused that vehicle to land on its roof.”
According to the Morden Police’s report, the incident involved a black Chevrolet Equinox that was travelling northbound on 12th street and failed to stop at the stop sign.
It collided with a black Jeep Grand Cherokee travelling westbound on Thornhill Street.
The Equinox landed on its roof.
“It’s not often we see ... a vehicle actually roll over like that in town or in the city limits,” said the inspector.
Minor injuries
Inspector Aune said that “minor injuries” were sustained by the driver of the Equinox.
The investigation of the collision is ongoing.
A growing trend?
The August 16th accident adds to an ongoing concern that the city has had recently, according to Inspector Aune.

“There was a little bit of a trend of [rolling stops] for a bit,” he said. “It just comes to our attention mostly either when we enforce it, or when we come across accidents like this.”
The role of witnesses
Inspector Aune added that when it comes to accidents such as these, hearing from witnesses who have seen them unfold is valuable to the police service.
“Witnesses are extremely helpful to us, because that often gives us the other side that ... we don't know about,” he said, adding that whether the community members stay at the site until officers arrive or call in later, the information helps with investigations.
