1956 ~ 2025 (age 68)
It is with deep love and sorrow that the family of Darlene Janet Ferguson (née Yanke) announces her passing on August 15, 2025, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at the age of 68, with her husband and daughter by her side.
Darlene was born on December 12, 1956, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and grew up in the Orion area. On August 15, 1975, she married the love of her life, Alex Ferguson, in Medicine Hat, and together they built a beautiful life in Leader, Saskatchewan, where they raised their family.
A dedicated and talented accountant, Darlene owned and operated her own business for more than 35 years. She took great pride in her work and treasured the friendships and conversations she shared with her clients. Beyond her career, she loved fishing, camping, and reading, and was known as someone who was strong, steady, witty, and always ready to listen. She was a source of comfort and wisdom to those around her.
Darlene’s greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandsons, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Alex, daughter Kendra (Kyle), and her beloved grandsons Kayden, Connor, and Colby. She is also survived by her siblings Stan (Ruby) Yanke, Diana Dyck, Elaine (Harley) Brice, and Sheila (Randy) Anhelher; sisters-in-law Winnie (Clifford) and Kathy (Ken); brother-in-law Dave Hancock; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Darlene was predeceased by her parents Albert and Helen Yanke, parents-in-law Robert and Jean Ferguson, her brother John in infancy, nephews Rodney and Brandon, nieces Kimberly and Verna, sister in law Rose and brothers-in-law Sam and Herbert.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Leader, on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with lunch and fellowship to follow at the Leader Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Darlene’s strength, kindness, and unwavering love will remain with all who had the blessing of knowing her.
