The Biggar RCMP had themselves a busy week between August 11 and August 18.

The first day of the reporting period started with Biggar RCMP encountering an individual found to be in breach of a no contact order with another person. The individual was given a court date with no further updates provided.

On August 12 police began looking into a pair of assault allegations, "actively investigating" each situation, as last Tuesday also saw two accidental 911 calls.

Perhaps the headline call of the report, on August 14 the detachment received reports of an individual squatting at an abandoned farmhouse in the RM of Biggar. The squatting was determined to be happening since the winter, and the Ford F150 parked in the driveway was determined stolen.

The same day police responded to a motorbike crash, transporting the injury male to hospital as they later opened investigation into the crash.

A pair of happy endings came following wellbeing check requests on August 15 and 16. First, a young boy was reunited with his family, and in the other, police helped an elderly person in need of medical attention.

Wrapping up the report, just on Monday Biggar RCMP members responded to a trespassing report near Perdue that resulted in a field fire. The individual in question fleed from the scene and was determined to have started the fire after a pile of wires was discovered burned near the scene.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread to nearby crops. In the meantime, police managed to apprehend the suspect, who was later charged with arson and given a date to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court.
