Two people are in hospital following a fire Thursday evening in the Central Park area.
The fire broke out just after 6 p.m. in a three-storey apartment complex on Qu'appelle Avenue.
Smoke was coming from the building when crews arrived. They were able to enter the apartment and battle the fire from inside, declaring it under control half an hour later.
Firefighters rescued several residents from the building. Three were assessed at the scene by paramedics, with two being transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Firefighters also helped several cats to safety.
No other injuries were reported.
It's believed the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical appliance.
Meanwhile, a couple of hours earlier, around 4:45 p.m., crews were called to a fire in a vacant warehouse in the 600 block of Keewatin Street.
Heavy flames and smoke were pouring from the building as crews arrived. It took almost three hours to get the fire under control.
No one was inside when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
