An RCMP officer from the Battlefords detachment was seriously injured after their vehicle rolled over while responding to a call on Highway 4 near Cochin.
Police say the officer was driving an unmarked vehicle with emergency lights activated when the crash happened.
A passerby stopped to help before emergency crews from Meota and District Volunteer Fire Department, the RM of North Battleford Fire Department, EMS and other Battlefords RCMP officers arrived.
The officer was taken by ambulance to Saskatoon with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
Highway 4 was temporarily closed but has since reopened. RCMP collision reconstruction specialists are continuing their investigation.
“Our detachment and all the units and employees who live and work in Battlefords area are like family. We’ll continue to lean on each other in the days and weeks ahead and as the injured member navigates recovery,” said Inspector Ryan How, Battlefords Detachment Commander. “I want to recognize those who have extended gestures and words of kindness. These acts truly show the continued support we have from the communities we serve. Thank you.”
