Global Cellulose Fibers (GCF), currently a division of International Paper, has announced it will be acquired by American Industrial Partners (AIP), a private equity firm specializing in long-term investments in industrial businesses.
AIP expressed strong confidence in GCF’s future, citing the company’s sustainable wood supply, robust markets, industry-leading innovation, and deep local expertise. The acquisition will enable GCF to further invest in operations, accelerate innovation, and strengthen its capabilities.
Despite the change in ownership, GCF confirmed that its commitment to the Grande Prairie community will remain unchanged. Local operations, jobs, and partnerships will continue, with the company emphasizing its ongoing role in supporting the region’s economy and quality of life.
The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2025, pending regulatory approvals and customary conditions. Until then, GCF will continue to operate under International Paper.
