The City of Grande Prairie invites residents to celebrate Alberta Day on Saturday, August 30 with free opportunities to play, skate and swim at local facilities.
To mark Alberta’s 120th anniversary, the City is offering complimentary access at the Eastlink Centre, Keyera Place and Design Works Centre, along with a special public skate with the Grande Prairie Storm at Bonnetts Energy Centre. Visitors can also explore local history at the Grande Prairie Museum and Reverend Forbes Homestead, where admission is always free.
Hours for free facility access at each location are listed below:
- Eastlink Centre from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Aquatics public swim:
- Wave 1: 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Dive contest at 12:00 p.m.)
- Wave 2: 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Dive contest at 2:30 p.m.)
- Available Aquatics Amenities: Steam room, sauna, 25m program pool, limited lane swim, free swim area in 50m competition pool, FlowRider, splash park & yellow slide, wading pool, hot tubs
- Aquatics public swim:
- Design Works Centre – Drop-in access
- Stick & Puck (7 and under): 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
- Stick & Puck (13+): 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Public Skate: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
- Please note: skate rentals are available for an additional fee and quantities are limited.
- Keyera Place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Bonnetts Energy Centre public skate with the Grande Prairie Storm from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- Grande Prairie Museum from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Reverend Forbes Homestead from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
