This past weekend’s StreetFest was another summer hit, the second year in a row, for the Humboldt Downtown Business Improvement District. Main Street in Humboldt become a showcase to downtown businesses and also to artisans and product vendors with a wide variety of wares.

Kids with colourful snow cones lined the streets, courtesy of the Kona Cone Truck. Other food vendors served up their own delicacies, whether the popular doughy Beaver Tales, creative poutine offerings, and unique sandwiches. Celine’s west kept busy serving up street side staples, pork skewers and savoury stir fried noodles.

In front of the library, a raucous round of street hockey kept the Humboldt Broncos busy as they were swarmed by a young and exuberant next-generation flood of hockey hopefuls all having a great time.

In Civic Park, Friday night’s movie night morphed into Saturday’s Kid Zone activity centres with bouncy castles, face painting, the Reel Attractions concession (including that delicious buttery popcorn), and other great adventures.

Right next door on Main Street, the concert stage was abuzz all day with musical performances, cultural dances, and other talented individuals sharing the spotlight. Throughout the morning and afternoon, audiences were entertained. Into the evening the street dance drew another fantastic crowd with 40 Oz Philosophy opening for the high energy country rock of Brody Siebert.

Once again, a huge hats off to the organizers with the BID and all the wonderful community volunteers who helped bring another successful StreetFest to downtown Humboldt.

Enjoy a gallery of some of those highlights.
