Approximately $17,900 worth of fentanyl, a replica firearm, and other drug-related evidence was seized following a traffic stop on Friday night.
At 10:38 p.m. on August 22, the Winnipeg Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen about a 2019 Chevrolet Malibu being driven recklessly on Portage Avenue after entering the city from the Perimeter Highway.
A traffic stop was conducted on Portage Avenue near Mount Royal Street approximately 10 minutes later. Officers saw indicators of drug trafficking and arrested a female driver and her male passenger. The following items were seized as evidence:
- 119 grams of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value: $17,900)
- Black replica handgun
- Two cell phones
- Hunting knife
- $20 Canadian currency
A 19-year-old woman faces charges for Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl, Possession of a Weapon x 2, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.
A 19-year-old man is facing charges of Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl, Possession of a Weapon x 2, Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 4.
Both were released on an Undertaking.
