According to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) the province's wildfire situation is steadily improving, thanks in part due to recent weather conditions. As of the most recent update it was noted that there are no communities under evacuation orders and all highways are open to traffic.
A total of 45 fires are still active in the province, and only one - the MUSKEG fire, located north of La Plonge Reserve and Beauval - is not currently contained. Aside from the MUSKEG fire, 10 wildfires are contained, 30 are ongoing assessments and the remaining four are listed as protecting values. Crews are on scene, actioning the fire and targeting hot spots. The SPSA noted that personnel from Ontario, Quebec, Mexico and North Dakota are involved in the firefighting efforts in the north.
Saskatchewan has had 469 wildfires so far this year, which is below 2024's 523 fires to date but still higher than the five-year average of 397 wildfires to date.
