Robert Bruce Martin
May 21, 1947 – August 23, 2025

With deep sorrow, the family of Robert “Bob” Bruce Martin of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, announces his passing on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Humboldt District Hospital. He was 78 years old. Bob was born on May 21, 1947, in Dundee, Scotland, to James and Davina Martin. He spent his early years fishing with his father and Uncle Dave, as well as playing with his younger siblings David and Irene. At the age of 10 Bob and family boarded the “”Fair Sea” to Canada. After landing in Alberta, Bob welcomed three more siblings into his life—Linda, Don, and Jim. Due to frequent moves for work, Bob attended many schools across the provinces. In 1972, while living in Drayton Valley, Alberta, and working at IGA, he met Sheila—the love of his life—who also worked there. They married on August 24, 1974, in Drayton Valley and began their journey together, living in Edmonton and Barrhead, Alberta, then Greenwood and Grand Forks, British Columbia, before settling in Westbank, BC. Their family grew with the birth of Craig in 1979 and Kimberely in 1980. When Brenda Mines closed, the Martins relocated to Granisle, BC, for work at Bell Mine. After its closure in 1993, Bob returned to the grocery business, joining Shoppers Food Mart in Vanderhoof, BC, and later becoming manager in Fort St. James, where he worked for several years. Eventually, Bob and Sheila moved east to Humboldt, Saskatchewan, where Bob held roles at Del-Air, Co-op Grocery, Doepker Industries, and, most fondly, as manager at SARCAN. Humboldt became their longest and most cherished home, where Bob enjoyed his retirement surrounded by his beloved grandchildren. Bob will be dearly missed and remembered by his wife Sheila; son Craig (Cyndi) and family Abigail, Olivia, and Lachlan; daughter Kimberly (Thomas) and family Jayden, and Jamie; sisters: Irene (Andy), and Linda (Gerry); and brothers Don, and Jim (Jennifer). He was predeceased by his granddaughter Addison Ann Martin; son-in-law Thomas Johnnie; his parents, James and Davina (nee Binee) Martin; brother, Dave; and parents-in-law, Leo and Sarah Anderson. The Funeral Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Bev Trach. The eulogists were Abby, Craig, and Kimberly Martin. Urn bearers were Jayden, Jamie, Abby, Olivia and Lachlan. Memorial donations may be directed to Diabetes Canada (1300-522 University Avenue, Toronto, ON, M5G 2R5).
