It's been open for about four weeks, and Thursday a grand opening was held for the new Petro Canada cardlock in Altona's Industrial and Business Park off 14th Avenue Northeast. The site is operated by Centennial Farm Supply, and joins the Winkler based business's other locations spread across Southern Manitoba.

"We identified Altona as definitely a market we wanted to be in, there's a lot of activity here," said owner Kevin Braun. "14th Avenue is a really busy street in Altona, a lot of positive feedback, and people are happy to see us here, so that's good."

The cardlock is located just north of the Bunge canola crushing plant, which has dozens of semis unloading everyday.

"I was really surprised to see the traffic coming through the day we actually turned the switch on, which was really encouraging," he added. "I think it's just going to get even busier now that we've had an official ribbon cutting and people are aware of the site."

Large lot equals easy access

The site provides ease of access for all types of vehicles and farm equipment due to its size.

"We have two really big lots here, with really wide driveways, so we can accommodate every type of vehicle from Super B trucks to farm equipment to somebody wanting to come with their car or their pick-up to get fuel, we've got pretty much everybody covered, here."

Both clear and dyed gasoline and diesel are available at the cardlock, as well as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).

Centennial Farm Supply also has cardlocks in Winkler, Morden, Miami, Killarney, Crystal City and Holland.
