Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure will begin surface rehabilitation on Provincial Road 240 on September 2, affecting the stretch from the south junction of Crescent Road East to the north junction of Crescent Road East.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flaggers during construction, but will return to two-way traffic outside of work hours. The project is expected to take approximately two weeks, with delays likely for drivers in the area.

Mayor Sharilyn Knox reminds residents to give themselves extra time, adding a few minutes earlier out the door can mean less stress for you and your passengers.

“Be patient & kind. Workers are out there in all weather making sure our roads are safe for years to come,” says Knox. "It’s a short season of inconvenience for long-term improvements. So next time you’re frustrated, just know: those orange cones are the price of progress. They’ll be gone before you know it.”

The city is also highlighting that the improved road will lead to the new $455-million Portage Regional Health Centre, a project expected to benefit residents for years to come.
