Killam/Forestburg RCMP say a 45-year-old man has been arrested following a break-and-enter at a rural Flagstaff County residence.

Police were called to the property near Killam at approximately 10:16 p.m. on Aug. 27 after a male was reported attempting to enter the home. According to RCMP, the homeowner and a female visitor saw the man on the property. The accused, who was reportedly highly intoxicated, claimed he lived there.

The homeowner left to call 911 while the accused allegedly struck the female in the face. The homeowner returned and held the suspect down, allowing the female to escape inside the home. Officers said the accused also broke windows in an attempt to gain entry before police arrived and arrested him.

Jaret Armstrong, 45, faces multiple charges, including two counts of break and enter to a dwelling, assault causing bodily harm, threat to cause bodily harm, mischief under $5,000, two counts of assault on a police officer, resisting or obstructing police, breach of peace bond, two probation breaches, failure to comply with a release order, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Armstrong was remanded in custody by a Justice of the Peace and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Killam on Sept. 2, 2025.
