The 16th annual Tractor Drive is rolling up, and the Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) is revving to go.
All tractors welcome
Robert Goertzen, executive director at MHV, has been part of the showcase for over seven years.
“It’s a wonderful tradition,” he says.
“It’s open to anybody with a tractor, and we’re not really that fussy about how antique it is,” he says.
Whether it’s from the 40s, 50s or 70s — Goertzen encourages every tractor to join the trek.
About the drive
Goertzen notes the registration fee is $150.
“It includes taking care of you for the whole day."
From breakfast to dinner, the MHV has got you covered — including your coffee break.
The meals are also open to the public.
“The breakfast is $15 for purchase, lunch time will be $15 and the supper buffet will be $30,” says Goertzen.
“It’ll be about a 50 kilometre day,” Goertzen explains.
Starting at the museum, the ride takes tractor drivers through the autumnal colours of the Southeast.

Fundraising for the future
The annual drive helps drive funds for the museum, supporting their ongoing projects.
“When you’re looking after heritage buildings, you’re always doing repairs,” Goertzen says.
He mentions projects like painting, fixing signage and grooves are all ongoing.
“We’re hoping that the public is supporting these drivers as they ask for funds.”
Drivers are encouraged to raise a minimum of $1000 in funds for MHV.
It’s all happening Sept. 6 at the Mennonite Heritage Village. To register or learn more about the Tractor Drive, visit the MHV website.
