Lake Lenore residents will be going back to the polls for a mayor by-election coming up this fall.
A release from the Village of Lake Lenore office confirms that Lee Poppl has resigned as Mayor effective August 31, 2025. Poppl served as mayor for nine months, since his election in November 2024. He previously served on village council for 12 years.
In accordance with legislation, a by-election must be held to fill the vacant position. Village administrator Connie Cordero confirms that a decision on the date will be made by Council at their next regular meeting on September 9.
Further details on nomination and elections procedures will be issued following that meeting.
