As the summer winds down, Saskatchewan Provincial Parks are inviting visitors to enjoy quieter campsites, fall hiking and a slate of special events in early September.
From Sept. 3 to 17, parks across the province will host activities ranging from outdoor movies to themed dinners and guided hikes.
On Sept. 6, Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park will feature “Summer Cinema,” an outdoor screening of Moana 2 presented by Fresh Air Cinema. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for family-friendly activities with park interpreters.
That same day, Buffalo Pound and Pike Lake provincial parks will each host a “Doggy Dip,” giving pets a chance to swim before the pools close for the season. Each park will offer two sessions, with space limited to 30 dogs per time slot.
Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park will hold its annual A Night in Italy event Sept. 6 and 7, with Lakeview Grill offering a farm-to-table Italian-inspired dinner for 60 guests each evening.
On Sept. 13, Candle Lake Provincial Park will host Into the Pines, a guided six-kilometre hike along the Old Baldy Trail. Park interpreters will highlight the wetlands, forests and wildlife along the way.
Later in the month, Echo Valley Provincial Park will present its Fall Guided Hikes on Sept. 20, featuring three trail options, games and fall-themed activities in the Qu’Appelle Valley.
Officials say September visitors can also take advantage of a 15 per cent discount on camping in any provincial park.
