Kenneth Donald Perry

February 22nd, 1938 – August 30th, 2025

It is with deep sadness the family of Kenneth (Ken) Perry announce his passing on August 30, 2025 at the age of 87 at Portage District General Hospital. He will be missed by many. A devoted and cherished Dad to Monica (Steve) Tomchuk, Chris (Colleen) Perry, and Tricia Perry (Frank Paulic) and “Papa” to Patricia Tomchuk (Kurt Johnson), Ken (Sabrina) Tomchuk, Jayson, Tyler and Kaylee Perry. He was predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Pat, as well as other family members and friends.

Ken was born on February 22, 1938 in Souris, Manitoba. He was raised in Napinka, Manitoba and worked as a farmer in surrounding communities before moving to Winnipeg where he met his future wife, Pat. They were married on July 25, 1964 and spent almost 45 years together before she passed. Ken and Pat lived in Winnipeg for a few years before moving to Portage la Prairie where they raised all their kids and eventually moved out to Southport where Ken still resided. He worked a few different jobs before joining the Pongoskis and then took an early retirement. Ken was an avid bowler, golfer and baseball player. He loved to dance, coach and spend time with his kids, grandkids, and grandpuppies. After he no longer golfed or went daily into town to have coffee at the shop with Ted, Brett, Diane, Ryan and anyone else who popped by, he spent many hours watching hockey especially his beloved Winnipeg Jets and his favourite game shows, as well as playing bingo. For those of you who knew him well, we know you will miss his sense of humour and teasing.

The family extends a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Pham and the compassionate, caring staff on the surgical ward at PDGH.

“In his final game, series tied, game seven, 3rd period, Ken played hard right down to the end.”

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 12th, 2025 at the Herman Prior Centre, 40 Royal Rd. N. Portage la Prairie, MB from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
