The NextAcre Real Estate Grain Rush is back for harvest season 2025, and the latest stop brought Discover Estevan, Sun 102, Country 106.1, and CJ1150 out to Benson to meet with Honan Farms.

Tristan from Honan Farms said the crew is about a third of the way through harvest, with peas and durum wrapped up. “It would be nice to have a warm meal in the combine right about now,” he shared, adding that the durum crop was a bit of a challenge this year because of weeds and wet conditions.

They’re now getting started on the wheat, while canola, flax, and more wheat remain ahead. On days when it’s too damp, the focus shifts to working on equipment and taking crop samples to see if anything is ready to go.

Despite a wet summer, Tristan noted the recent warm weather has been helping crops dry down, giving farmers in the area a much-needed boost. “We’ve been doing about 12 hours a day,” he said, estimating that harvest will likely stretch another three weeks if things go well.

The Grain Rush crew will soon be delivering a full meal courtesy of KFC Estevan fried chicken, fries, gravy, coleslaw, and more,  as a token of appreciation for the hard work farmers like Honan Farms put in to feed Southeast Saskatchewan.

“Hopefully, this small token of appreciation will help you guys keep going for the long haul,” the interviewer told Tristan and his crew.

Deliveries run through September 19, with meals big enough to feed 12 people delivered right to the field or doorstep.
