The Foothills Community Coalition is inviting youth to the 3rd Annual “It’s In You” Youth Resilience Summit for a day full of fun, inspiration, and connection.

Throughout the day, youth will have the opportunity to listen to engaging speakers, participate in resilience-building activities, learn healthy coping strategies, discover resources to manage stress, and learn how to navigate challenges confidently.

Lori Anne Schultz, Interim Director of the Community Services Hub, explained that this year, the organization is focusing on engaging with youth more.

“It’s going to offer fun, practical skills, and provide a framework for self-discovery and opportunities to advocate for their mental wellness needs,” Schultz said. “The goal of the day is to help them build meaningful connections with themselves, with other youth, and within their communities in a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment.”

The event’s keynote speaker is local motivational speaker, mental health advocate, and Paralympian, Chris Cederstrand, who will share his story on overcoming adversity.

To attend the event, students will require their parents' permission and a consent form and are encouraged to sign up on Eventbrite.

The deadline to register for the event is Sept. 30. The seminar is set for Oct. 9, at the Viking Rentals Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There is also space for local leaders and community champions of youth mental wellness in the area to share resources at the event.

Service providers interested in joining the event are encouraged to contact Lori Anne Schultz at lorianne65.schultz@gmail.com for more information.
