The NextAcre Real Estate Grain Rush continues to roll through Southeast Saskatchewan, delivering hot meals and thanks to the farmers who keep the region fed.

Near Oxbow, the Grain Rush team met with Lucas from PAL Grain Farm, a fifth generation farmer whose family has been working the land for more than 110 years. Lucas shared that their harvest is a little over halfway done despite a rain delay at the start of August. “We got a little shot of hail with the rain that slowed us down, but things have been moving along quite nicely in the last little while,” he said, adding that crop yields are looking strong this year.

Lucas described their operation as busy but rewarding, with crops including wheat, canola, barley, peas, and soybeans still to come. “Right now it’s doing fantastic. We’ve got a lot of crops coming off quick and we’re busting through the acres,” he said, noting the team is making the most of the good weather while it lasts.

As part of the Grain Rush, Lucas and his crew will receive a full KFC meal delivery with fried chicken, fries, gravy, coleslaw, and drinks, a small way to thank them for their hard work feeding Southeast Saskatchewan.
